The Secrets of the Acai Fruit That You Must Know

Hi

The acai fruit is a new product from the Brazilian and Amazon rain forests. It grows deep in the jungle and is a palm fruit with very high energy content. It has now been rated one of the top 10 fruits for its high nutritional values, and also has been called a super food.

The Acai fruit is packed with nutrients like antioxidants, minerals, vitamin B complex, amino acids and fatty acids. Your body needs all of these to stay healthy and the acai fruit provides it in a nutshell.

However it may not be possible to find the acai fruit in your local super markets, as the harvest season for Acai is very short, and being a soft fruit has only a short shelf life which makes it expensive for many retailers to stock, but can be found readily in all good health food stores.

Acai is available in many forms and organic products. It can be consumed as a fruit, supplement, freeze dried, capsule, smoothie or juice. Acai is perfect for the people who exercise, because it compliments their effort for staying fit.

The high antioxidant nature of the acai fruit helps fight signs of aging and diseases like cancer, diabetes and bacterial infections. It has amino acids which help build muscles in your body and also helps to maintain muscular fitness.

Research has proven that acai fruit has all the above mentioned properties and can be a complete food source for the human body. In spite of many of us having good regular food habits a lot of people still lack energy, but just by including acai into your everyday diet with its natural source of energy, can help you feel energised and able to do more things with your life.

With so many benefits coming from a simple fruit, it's hard to argue that the acai berry is not a superfood. Although small, it contains a big deal of energizing value which is made up of a high dose of unsaturated fatty acids.

Furthermore, the acai fruit is high in fibre that promotes a healthy digestive system. It is a remarkable source of healthy fats, protein, and other essential vitamins and minerals.

With the size of a giant blueberry and a symmetry of grape, this amazing fruit tastes just like a wild raspberry with a subtle hint of grape Some people find it hard to get used to the taste, since it is a little different compared to other similar fruits or berries and maybe not quite so sweet.

The Acai fruit really does stand up to its super food label and by adding Acai to your diet can only be beneficial for health and well being.

Plantar Fasciitis and Heel Pain

If you've never experienced the pain that accompanies heel spurs and plantar fasciitis consider yourself lucky. This common problem is debilitating for many people. It causes intense heel pain or pain anywhere on the bottom of your foot. The symptoms are usually worse during the first few steps and gradually decrease once you walk around. However, some people are in pain all day long. It can effect a sedentary person, a skinny person, an overweight person, or an athlete. It alters how you walk and move throughout the day and may cause back pain. People look all over for remedies to their pain, usually to no avail.

The cause of Plantar Fasciitis is irritation to the plantar fascia on the bottom of your feet. The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue that goes from your heel all the way to your toes. It maintains your arches and creates a stable foundation for your foot.

If you walk without proper arch support in your shoes eventually your arches will fall. When this happens it causes your plantar fascia to stretch. This makes the fascia tighter than it should be and this causes pain. For many people the fascia gets so tight that it starts to pull at the heel bone. After many years of pulling these people may develop a heel spur. This is when the heel bone grows a little bump on it because of the constant pulling. This may be accompanied by pain but it may be painless.

Some people with normal arches or high arches get heel pain and plantar fasciitis as well. This is usually caused by muscle imbalances in the foot or lower leg. Some people have normal arches while standing but when they stand their arches fall. Either way, the first solution is to get custom orthotic inserts made for your shoes. This doesn't mean the cheap ones you get at a pharmacy. You need to find someone who makes custom orthotic inserts that can be made specific for your feet. These can cost from $75 to $300. This is expensive but can be very effective.

The best way to get rid of your pain is to get your plantar fascia stretched out. When the fascia lengthens it won't pull on your heel and you won't get so much pain. To do this you need to find a Chiropractic Physician or someone with extensive knowledge of the fascia to work on your foot. This procedure is extremely effective but also can be quite painful. It requires the practitioner to push into your fascia with their fingers and manually stretch out your fascia. It normally takes one treatment but may require more. At the conclusion of the 5-10 minute procedure you must roll a tennis ball under your feet for 15 minutes every hour for a week to reshape your fascia.

If you suffer from heel of foot pain you should be in contact with a practitioner who is skilled in plantar fasciitis. The remedy of rest usually will not help you. The other option is a cortisone injection which may be very painful and does not solve your problem. Try to treat your symptoms with ice and custom orthotics, but you may still need to have someone manually stretch your fascia to obtain permanent relief.

Can a Hand Sanitizer (Alcohol Gel) Substitute For Hand Washing?

Let's consider that you are just ate your hamburger and you have access to both a hand sanitizer and a soap & water. Which one you should you choose?

For years we've been told about the importance of hand washing by our parents but today people asking if hand sanitizers are more effective in killing germs than our old friend soap & water. The answer is "yes".

Today majority of hand sanitizers use ethyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol (or a mixture of them) as the active ingredient to kill the 99.99% of the germs on hands. Active ingredient ethyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol has the ability to break down the germs' cell walls immediately and cause them to perish. But in order to kill 99.99% of the germs, a hand sanitizer shall contain alcohol percentage between 60% - 90%.

Actually soap is not a germicide or an antiseptic. On your hands, there are dead cells, dried sweat, various germs and dust. The specialty of soap is its ability to get rid of them in a mechanical way. When you wash your hands just with water, the oil layer on your hands will prevent waters reaction with skin and minimizes the hygiene. Regular soaps are consists of the different molecules hydrophilic (water-binding) and the other is hydrophobic (water-repellent). When you rub your hands with soap & water, soap molecules will breakdown the oil layer while water will wash away the germs & dirt. But in the end, the percentage of germs killed by soap & water combination will be less than 99.99%.

While hand sanitizers are more successful in killing germs, please keep in mind that hand sanitizers can't remove dead skin cells, oil and dirt from your hands as dirt will not evaporate while alcohol does. So if you end up with ketchup on your hands, you shall not use hand sanitizer for cleaning purposes as you will have germ free hands but it will still be "dirty". Always use water & soap when available rather than using a hand sanitizer.
